2S19 Msta-S is a 152 mm self-propelled howitzer that went into service in 1989.

The howitzer was designed to defeat unprotected as well as secure targets: manpower, armoured and unarmored military equipment, fortifications, air defence and missile defence, enemy facilities and logistic installations.

Msta-S can fire on observable and unobservable targets from a closed position and with direct fire. It can also operate in mountain conditions.

In 2015 Msta-S participated in the Indian Army tender for the purchase of self-propelled artillery systems, but lost to the South Korean K9 Thunder artillery system.

Currently, Msta-S is in service in Russia, Belarus, Venezuela, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Ethiopia and Georgia.
