Tupolev, Sukhoi jets destroy ISIS targets in Syria

Russian airstrikes destroyed Daesh’s command posts, arms and ammunition.

Russia's Ministry of Defence

On Jan. 23, six Russian Tupolev Tu-22M3 long-range bombers launched airstrikes on Islamic State (ISIS) or Daesh targets in Syrian city of Dei ez-Zor.

The bombers took off from an airfield in Russia and flew over territory of Iraq and Iran. Over Syrian territory, air cover was provided by Sukhoi Su-30SM and Su-35S jets from Hmeymin airbase.

The Russian Ministry of Defence says Daesh’s command posts, arms and ammunition depots were destroyed during the airstrikes.
