Leaders of BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) have started their meeting in a narrow format in the Indian state of Goa.

Sunday is the second day of the 8th BRICS summit. The leaders were greeted by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and later took part in a group photo session before heading for the meeting.

Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov earlier told reporters that on Sunday the leaders will hold a meeting in the format of working breakfast to discuss an expansion of contacts between people. The BRICS leaders will also meet with representatives of the BRICS Business Council to discuss boosting trade, bringing closer the economies of the five countries as well as launching new projects.

The topic of the meeting in the broad format is "BRICS Cooperation - Ways Forward." At the end of the summit, a declaration for the next year will be adopted. Several multilateral documents, including a memorandum on cooperation between the BRICS member countries’ development banks and the New Development Bank (NDB), will be signed in the presence of the leaders. India’s prime minister will make a statement for the press after the two-day summit.
